Jerry Jazz Musician currently seeks short story submissions for its 55th short fiction contest. As the author of the winning short story, you will receive $100 and publication on the Jerry Jazz Musician site. In addition, the winning story might be published in an annual anthology or magazine.
The prize is awarded thrice a year to the best original and previously unpublished short story submitted to them. The winner of the short fiction contest will be announced on the site.
Eligibility:
- Anyone from anywhere in the world.
- No entry fee is required.
Submission Process:
- The story could be on any theme. Nevertheless, the Jerry Jazz Musician Contest readers are interested in stories that revolve around music, social history, literature, politics, art, film, and theatre.
- You are allowed to submit only a single story.
- Your submission could be either a Word document or a PDF file.
- The subject of your email should be: “Short Fiction Contest Submission”.
- Send your submission as an email attachment to jerryjazzmusician@gmail.com.
- The submission deadline is September 30, 2020.
- The winning entry will be announced by November 10, 2020.
Prize:
- The story will be published on the Jerry Jazz Musician site, and, possibly, in an annual story anthology or magazine.
- Shortlisted stories may also be considered for publication on the site.

I remember watching Gwilym on Young Jazz Musician of the Year when it was on Granada TV back in 1995 or so. He played a lovely piano piece in 5/4 and I believe he was 15 at the time. Don’t think he got beyond his initial round! Would love to see that show again…
