Pan African filmmaker, Kunle Afolayan, has said that Nollywood cannot go global without collaborations. He made this known in an interview with Elsie Godwin at Plus TV Africa.
He said African movie producers and directors need to collaborate to solve the problem of distribution. “I made The CEO just to do a test run and see how we can bring the African continent together. I believe that if the continent is conquered, if we have buying and well distribution platform within the continent, we probably don’t need to start looking at America…that will be bonus.”
He went on to say, “If we (African movie producers) form an alliance just as the airlines do and there is distribution…you can have a Nigerian Director and Cote’d’ivoire producer… You can even have four producers from different countries from around the continent. And do a film that the entire continent can relate to. I feel that will solve the distribution problem to a large extent.”
He touched on Piracy, Access to funding and other challenges in the movie industry. Watch full interview HERE – https://youtu.be/8xPi-wfbeFg
