The Lagos State Government has announced the introduction of Personal Identification Number, LASPIN, to capture the biometrics of students in all public primary and secondary schools.
This is contained in a statement made available to journalists on Sunday in Lagos by the Public Relations Officer of the Ministry of Education, Jide Lawal.
According to NAN, the statement quoted the Deputy Governor, Idiat Adebule, as saying that LASPIN would be a unique identity for each student throughout his or her study in the state’s education system.
Ms. Adebule, who supervises the ministry, said the transfer process of students in the state would now be streamlined, using the LASPIN.
According to her, LASPIN will control and discourage abuses and make the process of transfer from one school to another, more transparent.
