Life is full of distractions. Differently put, life is full of attractions. It depends on content and context. Distractions seem omnipresent, but I believe focus is Omni-potent. It is true that when purpose is not known, abuse is inevitable. It takes strength of purpose to resist the appeal of sinister. There is a lot of pressure exerted by the society, media and friends. Pressure plus challenges that show up on the way are capable of breaking one’s focus.

Focus is power. Les Brown, (the greatest motivational speaker in the world in my own estimation) puts it beautifully, ‘’Where your focus goes, your energy flows. Focus on what you want, where you are going, and what you are actively creating. Give yourself the gifts of experiencing at least three positive emotions every day ~ emotions such as appreciation, love, interest, amusement, joy, pride, hope and gratitude.

These emotions are powerful sculptors that broaden the landscape of possibility, expand your outlook, energize your relationships, calm your body, create emotional reserves and build mental resiliency. Focus, work and move toward a future full of possibility. Take massive action on your own behalf today to create your greatest life ever! You Deserve!’’

Do not jump at every opportunity that comes your way. This is the place of caution. Don’t throw caution into the wind. Those who throw caution into the wind, when faced with fatal attractions, end up being thrown into the pit of regret. Like they say, not everything that glitters is gold. There is a kind of gold that glitters but also splatters blood. Discipline is not easy on the flesh yet it is a life-saver.

Another point is this: Don’t be covetous. When a person is covetous, he will easily fall into traps. So many people have been swindled because they wanted to make fortune or ‘’hit gold’’ without following due process. Many have been initiated into cults because of their unrestrained desire to become wealthy and famous. In the process, they commit atrocities and lose their peace. It pays to follow the path of contentment.

And finally, you and I need to watch what attracts us. What attracted you might actually be a bait, so think through and make a wise choice. When you see a stinking rich person, you usually do not know the full story behind their wealth. It is alright to aspire for great things, but you must be careful so that your ambition does not turn into desperation. Your thought life matters if you will gain the inner victory you need to overcome on the outside. If you are defeated by lust on the inside, then you will be ‘’helplessly’’ attracted to dangerous opportunities on the outside. Keep your thoughts pure. You have the power to reject evil thoughts. Our dominant thoughts influence us significantly and can shape our destiny ultimately. Thoughts become words and actions. We build character from thoughts and habits eventually. On the road of destiny, many have had fatal accidents because of fatal attractions. You’ve got the power to resist and tear off the net they throw to capture you. Watch out for them and take control when you come face to face with them.
